Travel
Mykonos is situated in the center of the Cyclades Islands, 160 km from Athens Piraeus and 130 km from Rafina. Mykonos is easily accessible via good air and ferry services. There are daily ferries and flights to the island, which are increased in frequency during summer period. You can take a ferry boat, high-speed boat or airplane from Athens or Thessaloniki. |

Traveling by air
Mykonos has an airport and can be reached from all major European destinations, via Athens (see below) or Thessaloniki, with Aegean Airlines or Olympic Airways.
There are also some direct charter flights from a number of European destinations, without a transfer in Athens. Easyjet has flights from London Gatwick, Milan, Rome and Paris Orly, see www.easyjet.com. Air Berlin flies from several cities in Germany, London and Vienna to Mykonos, see www.airberlin.com.

FROM ATHENS
By air
The flying time from Athens is around 40 minutes. There are 8 flights per day executed by Aegean Air or Olympus Airlines.

By sea
Regular ferries:
Blue Star Ferries and Hellenic Seaways service Mykonos on a daily basis.
There is one ferry a day from Piraeus Port (Athens); travelling time to Mykonos is around 5 hours. From the port of Rafina there are several ferries a day during the summer time; the travelling time is 4,5 hours.
Hydrofoil / catamaran services:
From both Piraeus and Rafine there are also hydrofoil / catamaran services port to reach Mykonos in approximately 2 hours. The timetable for these high speed ferries will be published by Blue Star Ferries and Hellenic Seaways by mid April or early May. Departures are likely to be scheduled in the early morning: in 2009 there was a high speed ferry departing from Rafina at 07:30 with arrival to Mykonos at 10:20, and one from Piraeus at 07:25 with arrival in Mykonos at 11:05. Price of a one way ticket was 45 euro in 2009.

Transportation in Mykonos
As there are only 30 taxi’s on the island, a shuttle service will be provided on the day of arrival, Wednesday 9 June, and on the day of departure, Sunday,13 June.
The shuttle service needs to be booked in advance by means of the hotel room reservation form.

Costs: 7 euro per transfer, to be paid directly to the hotel.

The public bus system offers multiple departures from the town of Mykonos (Starting Line 2: OTE) to Elia (Conference venue). The travelling time is approximately 30 minutes and the ticket cost is 1.70 euros (price summer 2009). |
