La Plagne is a French ski area in the alpine valley of the Tarentaise (Savoie). Since 2003, La Plagne and the neighbouring resort of Les Arcs form Paradiski's ski area.
La Plagne lies at altitudes between 3250 metres (10,660 ft) (on the Glacier de la Chiaupe near the top of Bellecôte) and 1250 metres (4100 ft) (in the village of Montchavin). La Plagne has 100 km² (38 mi²) of ski area spread across four communes (Aime, Bellentre, Champagny-en-Vanoise and Macôt-La Plagne).
La Plagne has 225 kilometers (140 mi) of slopes (134 slopes : 15 black (expert), 30 red (advanced), 72 blue (intermediate) and 10 green (beginner)), and an immense off-skiing area, with great spots like Bellecôte's North Face. La Plagne is a modern ski resort with 2 cable-cars (the Telemetro, linking Plagne Centre and Aime-La Plagne and the Vanoise Express, which links La Plagne to Les Arcs and was opened in 2003 and travels at over 40 kilometers/hour (25 mi/hr), making it one of the fastest of its kind in the world), 8 gondolas, 36 chairlifts (1 8-seater, 11 6-seaters, 19 4-seaters and 5 2-seaters) and 38 drag lifts[1]. A bobsleigh piste was built in La Plagne for the 1992 Winter Olympics held in nearby Albertville.

Residence les Nereides
The apartments in Residence les Nereides are strictly reserved for students.
The price for a place in an apartment will be € 225 for 4 nights, including services and VAT, excluding breakfast and tourist tax . Breakfast can be used in the Hotel Mercure La Belle Plagne (€ 13, per day) or on your own.
In the nearby commercial centre of La Belle Plagne is a supermarket.

Weather and dress |
Because of the high altitude (2100 metres), the weather in La Belle Plagne is very cold in January, with temperatures ranging from -20 to -30 degrees Celsius. Not all walking paths are free of snow and can be slippery. Please make sure you wear warm and comfortable clothes and shoes. Dress code during the sessions and social gatherings: informal, ski wear. |
TRAVEL INFORMATIONS |
Bus transfer
Bus transfer will be organised against payment from the airports of Geneva and Lyon to the conference venue on Wednesday, 30 Jan, and vice versa on Sunday, 3 February.
The time schedule and costs will be published early January. The bus transfer will take approximately 4 hrs. Please note that arrival at the airports on 30 January should be no later than 17:00 hrs. For the return journey the bus will not arrive in Geneva and Lyon before 10.30 hrs.
The bus transfer will be organised on Tuesday and Sunday only. We strongly advise you to register for this bus service, via congresbureau@erasmusmc.nl.
Public transport:
There is no direct bus or train connection to La Belle Plagne, you need to change in Aime (20 km away from La Belle Plagne).
From Aime to La Plagne: by bus or by taxi (a 45 minutes drive), both departing in front of the train station. Please note that the bus service is limited to only 2 or 3 times a day. A taxi costs approximately 50 euro.
By car:
drive direction Albertville, then via Moutiers, Aime and La Plagne to La Belle Plagne.
